Medium – for grain sizes from 7/5 to 3/2 µm
Hard – ideal for ultra-fine abrasives from 3/2 down to 0.5/0 µm

How it works:
The cast iron strop utilizes the principle of abrasive lapping. When used with a polishing compound, the microscopic abrasive particles embed themselves in the surface of the cast iron, creating a honing surface similar to that of a diamond or CBN stone.
This makes the cast iron strop incredibly versatile, allowing you to:
- Work with loose abrasives: Apply pastes, emulsions, or suspensions directly to the strop.
- Charge the strop: Create a dedicated honing surface by working a fixed abrasive into the cast iron.
- Combine methods: Apply a paste to a charged strop for enhanced performance, especially with coarser grits.
